Thanks to the Skype technology, Adam’s private student base stretches across the US, throughout Europe and Australia. Allowing him to lend a hand to anyone in the world who’s wishing to work on their flat pick guitar skills. With 5,000+ followers and more than 1.1 million views on Youtube, Adam’s approach to teaching and playing flat picked guitar has helped and influenced numerous players all around the world.
Adam has been featured in and contributed to Flat Picking Guitar Magazine and is also an instructor at a number of music camps including the Nashville Flat Pick Camps and Perry Stenback International
Guitar Camp (Denmark), Walker Creek Music Camp (Northern CA). Adam is currently the Director of Bluegrass Ensembles at Denison University and is an artist/instructor in residence at The McConnell Arts Center in Worthington Ohio. At the MAC he directs the Acoustic Roots Music Ensemble Series and meets with regional students. Desiring to bring people together to make music, Adam developed this program for intermediate and beyond musicians.
Giving them the opportunity to come together in a relaxed and organized environment to play/rehearse as a band. Whether playing solo, duo or full band shows, Adam strives to develop music that reflects his influences while attempting to keep the music moving forward. Paying homage to his predecessors like Norman Blake, Doc Watson and John Hartford through his own compositions. This approach to making music, innovation through tradition, continues with the new album for 2018 A Matter Of Time. A follow up album to The Family Tree, this album creates a balance between traditional roots material and brand new compositions from Adam Schlenker.
We feel privileged that he goes out in the world to teach with a Thompson along with his great sounding vintage Martin. Thanks for your support Adam!
