Deep Modified Classical Hybrid

Thompson Guitars has a new model called the DMC (Deep Modified Classical Hybrid).  It was developed for musicians seeking a comfortable fit guitar model that enhances sound projection with brilliance, balance and exceptional playability.   The body shape is reminiscent of a N-20 guitar, think Willie Nelson’s Trigger that famous guitar conversion from nylon to steel strings.   We created our variation of this model with a deeper body, solid headstock and crafted it with a forward shifted advance X-bracing pattern different from the N-20 fan bracing pattern.  Originally these guitars were modeled after the traditional Spanish classical guitar shape.

This mid-range sized guitar doesn’t give up too much on sound with the deeper body and 00 sound hole size making it still relevant when in a band or a jam.   It feels like a smaller slope shoulder dreadnought with lots of versatility – strumming, flatpicking or finger-style.  The fit of the guitar is  also celebrated by our younger players too!

Classical guitars are traditionally built with wider nuts, but we use our standard neck with a soft V profile and 1 11/16 nut width.  This nut width can be adjusted when ordering to a 1 3/4, 1 23/32 or any of our other offerings.

Every top is hand graduated bringing out the utmost liveliness and character. The braces are hand-carved with precision supporting each top that is chosen to promote the most delicate of sound vibrations. Familiar to many acoustic steel-string players it features a 25.4” scale length and 14 fret to the body. The result is an incredibly responsive instrument with a sweet character and sustain.

As standard, we added a little color and it comes with a custom rosette of blue fiber and mahogany, a red/blue rope top trim, darker pickguard (“Eliatort”), tortoise binding, regency markers in either blue stone or blood wood with mother of pearl outer ring.  Both the mahogany and rosewood models feature the same appointments. You can add at toner top like in the photos on the East Indian Rosewood.

This unique mid-sized guitar was designed to enhance our collection of models we offer.

You can also customize the appointments to your liking – message us at sales@pktguitars.com.
