Helping make it possible for musicians to continue their guitar education is something we jumped on when we heard about this special camp. We made a standard D-MA that was part of their silent auction to raise money for scholarships! Thank you to Woody Platt, John Felty, Claire along with her excellent staff, Bryan Sutton and the professional instructors making the Blue Ridge guitar Camp an amazing way to keep learning all things guitar! Don’t forget to apply when the applications are available for the 2026 camp, it will fine tune your skills and form lasting relationships.
We were delighted to be situated in our cabin among the green trees that are so different from the pines in Central Oregon and take some time to explore the sweet town of Brevard. We learned about the history of the Brevard Music Center which has been providing education for classical musicians and many other genres of music for over 85 years.
This special guitar camp offered up days of classes and a handful of guitar makers offered up guitars to try out. It was interesting to hear the different sounds each company creates using a variety of tonewoods and models. We were honored to be invited to share what we do way out west with so many other celebrated guitar companies – they have become friends and we are grateful for the comradery.
Also being at camp gave us the opportunity to personally deliver Soraya Sullivan her D-MA with a Norman Blake burst. Her band The Sullivan Sisters is based out of Chicago and she was in Brevard working on her guitar picking skills with help from some amazing professionals.

The young people at camp were so talented and passionate about their music always learning and supporting each other – a pleasure to witness.
