Once and awhile we like to build with other woods besides what is normally traditional in the bluegrass flatpick world. We love to continue to investigate different sounds produced by our guitars that are made here in Sisters, Oregon – woods that are local or unique.
We recently met up with a local wood specialist and acquired several backs and sides to have available for a custom build. We can combine a custom build with a beautiful inlay designed in-house by Simon Haycraft.
If you want to stick to our standard tonewoods like Mahogany, East Indian, Madagascar or Brazilian for a custom build, that works too! We aim to please and are always happy to build the perfect guitar for you and your playing style.
Wood selections are:
Quilted Western Maple with a 3D water ripple pattern (used for our 00 Masterpiece #2)
Claro Walnut with some beautiful grain lines & coloring
Sapele (Sapelli) cool pattern with a deep reddish tone and 3D bearclaw like patterns
Birdseye Maple (Eastern Rock Maple) sets that really pop!
African Rosewood (bubinga) from an old collection, very eye catching!
We will also be getting some lovely sets of Myrtle in a few months that we will be posting on our Facebook page.
Give us a call at 541-588-6211 or email us at sales@pktguitars.com and we can put you in touch with Gareth to talk about the sound you are looking for, your playing style and what model works best with each individual tonewoods.
