This beautiful guitar came together so nicely and has our newest original torch called The Lotus. This torch is added to several other original torches that we offer here at Thompson Guitars.
A torch first appeared on a 1902 Martin 00 called ‘the fern’ and then in 1905 the ‘flowerpot’ came into existence – a design purchased by Martin from the Jeorge H. Jones Co. of New York. Here is more information of the history of these inlays. We love the traditional torch, but we also wanted to make our mark with several of our own original designed torches.
The first one created by Simon Haycraft was the Lily and then came the Thistle, which is on Molly Tuttle’s Brazilian Dreadnought. The Regency came a year or so later and is part of the Billy Strings signature model. It has been the most popular of our torches and creatively we can use many combinations of pearl and wood to create different variations of the Regency torch. Now we are offering this detailed and stylized torch called ‘The Lotus’ that is on this beautiful Brazilian rosewood OM with green select abalone.
