Stewart Ross

Stewart has always loved music and grew up in Portland with lots of influences.  He started on the guitar at the early age of 8 and learned by listening with his dad to the Doobie Brothers, ZZ top & Tom Petty.  After high school he moved to Central Oregon and played in several bands all the while continuing to tinker with his guitars adding to his knowledge of set-up and repair work.  His career in the IT field led him to southern Oregon for several years – during this time he continued to build his guitar repair skills by helping friends and doing overflow work for several repair shops.  The tech world was not full filling Stewart’s passion and when a luthier in Southern Oregon said Thompson Guitars was looking for help he reached out –  his persistence paid off and Stewart has now been working in the finish department and has become an invaluable part of the finish crew here at the shop.  His dedication to learning and being a hard worker with a positive attitude has added so much to our team!
