Zach was born and raised in eastern Washington, growing up with dreams of being the next George Strait. He has been singing since before he could talk and picked up his first guitar at the early age of 5. Zach currently makes his home just outside of Boulder, Colorado, where he pursues his musical passions with aspirations to make music for a living.
Based out of Washington state, North Country is one of the premier bluegrass bands from the northwest. The lineup consists of Zach Top on lead vocals and mandolin, Norm Olsen on lead vocals and guitar, Michael Kilby on fiddle, dobro, and harmony vocals, Kent Powell on bass and harmony vocals, and Will McSeveney on Banjo.
Zach’s new venture is with the band Modern Tradition, a group of young talented musicians adding Zach’s country twist on bluegrass. Be on the look out for shows this summer starting off with the Wenatchee river bluegrass festival, June 14-16 and an upcoming CD.
They were a hit last year at IBMA.
