We offer many different appointments to customize your guitar. One way is to add wood binding which captures the woodsy aspect of a guitar build. It can feel more natural and highlight the back and sides to show off the tonewood. It enhances the character of your custom Thompson.
There are a variety of woods we like to use ranging from Koa, Maple, Brazilian, Ebony and Walnut. We either select from the variety of binding offered by Felly at Fiddleback WoodShack or we cut pieces at the shop. Olivia warms up the correct mold in the side bender which will bend the wood into the proper shape.
After the wood is bent and cooled, it is bound on the guitar with a skilled hand and keen eye to the details. The nuances of color and grain of each piece of binding comes alive when finished.
