Gareth Jenkins has been a part of Thompson guitars since the beginning of our shop in Sisters, Oregon. He has done many different jobs in the shop from body assembly, set-up and tone specialist. He has selected our tops and has been bracing, carving and hand graduating them for years. We have posted several videos of his work and thoughts on our YouTube Channel. We take great pride, time and effort in tuning of the tops to provide a lively and sweet sound. The tone our guitars make when played are of the utmost important.
Recently Gareth has taken Bud Bown, who works within many areas of our shop (CNC, Necks, Rosettes etc), under his wing to share techniques and processes of tuning tops. It is wonderful to see the passing on of tradition here at Thompson from one generation to the next. They work so well as a team.
